Is it the end of the week?

TinyMassive.com - Earn up tp $6 cpm

TinyMassive is a new company, launched July 1st if im not mistaken. They are really new but they know what they are doing.

Tinymassive is a comparison shopping engine (CSE), similar to shoppingads and widgetbucks. It will show ads from several merchants, relevant  to your site in several typical ad formats. It will display a list with products from different merchants, and it allow you to compare prizes between them. Nothing new if you are used to shoppingads or widgetbucks.

You can sign as publisher and make money displaying their ads. You earn on a per click basis, up to 70% of the value paid to tinymassive.  So far i can’t tell how the cpc is, as i have no data to share.

What’s worth to mention is that they claim that a publisher can earn up to $6 CPM! This is really good compared to similar companies, but sadly,im sure this CPM rate is not for all users…

As usual in these kind of sites, they tend to value American and canadian traffic, although the PPC ad sare open to other countries so far.

Ok, but do the ads look good?

well, you be the judge:

In my opinion, the widget style is clean, simple, light and very web 2.0. You can rate the product, compare prices between merchants, and a very important aspect is the ability to read comments about the products displayed. I really enjoyed how the widget looks like.

This is a new company and this is the time to sign up and get some referrals. They pay you 10% of what your referrals make.

Go ahead and give Tinymassive a try. :)

Oh, btw. A peculiarity about the company is that it is owned by a group of women. And they all have experience in this area.

Countdown to holidays

Wow, almost 6 days without publishing anything here at the blog! I don’t like to do this but my situation demands it.

It is the final week of my internship at the health centre and a project that i am doing for the internship is taking longer than i expected, although i am at the final steps of it, but still i need a couple more days to have it at the necessary stage.

Sadly this is making me fall behind on some jobs i have pending such as new BANS stores, mini sites and reviews…. :\

So while i don’t post a decent topic here i will let you read some posts of blogs that i read:

How to find a niche for your bans store - Flimjo

Speed up your blog - The Net Fool

Bill from TheBlogentrepeneur says that you should treat your niche sites like Business.

And finally, Building A Famous Blog Is Like Writing A Hit Song is brought to you by Tom from Standoutblogger.

Have fun reading these posts and ill see you in the next post! ;)

How to screw your adsense revenue

If you have been following me for some time now, then you should have noticed that i am a guy that likes to experiment and commit mistakes.

It is how we learn right? At least that’s what i hope. lol

Well, i have a forum with over 1000 members and a very decent traffic count each day.

I am using Simple Machines to power the forum and i was using the version 1.1.4 with a great looking template with ads very well placed, specially the adsense link units.

The forum database was getting too much garbage because i installed many modifications for the forum, i try and then delete some of them. But the deletion usually doesn’t erase the database data inserted when installing the mod, so along these years the garbage was accumulating. And lately, i was receiving to much database errors for my taste. Fortunately only i could see them, but that was pissing me off so i decided it was time to get ride of the crap…

What have i done?

well, i could easily have just upgraded to the newest stable version of SMF (1.1.5), but i had a little itch compelling me to install SMF 2.0 Beta 3.1 Public.

Ok, now you can say “What was this guy smoking? Pot!?!” lol

It’s a risk to install a beta release on a production site (production meaning fully launched and active site), but as i am very comfortable installing, updating and modifying SMF and i had backups to help me in case of despair, and considering this i installed the beta version after doing the proper tables deletions to clean the junk.

Did a full install of SMF because the majority of the modifications weren’t compatible, template included!!! That is why my revenue from adsense was screwed.

I have to stick with the default template, because no one is making templates compatible with version 2.0 due to the fact that the template structure will be completely rewritten for the final release.

With the old template, i was getting around 15-20 clicks a day making me a nice revenue in the end of the day, but now, with the default template with the ads in the exact same place, my clicks fell to 1!!!

The SEO structure was also changed, and this can potentially have some impact on revenue because google is still crawling the new addresses and i have seen a decrease in traffic coming  from the big G.

This could be a concerning problem, but to say the truth, i don’t really care. Yes it is money that im not winning anymore, but i can use my forum to help develop an excellent piece of software by reporting any bugs found, and i was really looking forward to try the new options available in version 2.0, and it was well worth the risk i took. ;)

So, if you are performing very well with your smf forum don’t upgrade to version 2.0, unless you are still using the default template and you are comfortable as i am with SMF management.

Is it the end of the week?

Bahh, it is only the beggining of the week but i feel like it was the end of it… im tired, im sleepy…. how could a day of work let me like this??? damn it…

It is accumulating… i need vacation. I need to dedicate myself to blogging to stress out (yes, blogging keeps the stress away :)), to do projects that are left behind… if all goes well i will manage to do this in a couple of weeks….

Anyway, remember my post regarding Ian, that was selling is life? Well, it turns out that the selling value didn’t reach the values i expected but still, a decent amount was made - AU 399,300 USD. Some of the biggest bids were cancelled. You don’t imagine the amount of bids that were cancelled saying that made a mistake bidding… lol

Now, the auction has ended, and Ian walked out of his ex-house with only his wallet, the next step is ready to be made…. Guess what is it?

Have you checked it out? Crazy right? Total freedom. Hehe…

Good luck Ian!

Ok, it is the end of the month (it seems that time fly’s) and as usual i will show you the list of the top commentators. They benefit from some link juice from commenting and a link in all pages for being the top commentators, besides a mention in a post!

So ere are the top commentators for June:

Keep commenting ;)

Btw, this is a dofollow blog, some months ago i said i was considering taking out the dofollow from comments, and only let the top commentators as dofollow. And i have been thinking about it regularly, and it seems that bloggers are changing towards nofollow blogs

Again, im considering it, but considering it slowly…. :p

The WorldWideWeb Blog

Im in the middle of my work, but things are a bit quiet for the moment and i decided to take a moment and write a review that is due for some time now.

Today’s post will be a review about thewwwblog, which was a prize i recently sponsored at thenetfool’s outrageous contest.

Thewwwblog is run by Chetan Bhawani a dental student in India. He has a series of well established sites that go from dental and health issues to SEO and money making.

Thewwwblog is half year age. It was created on December 25, 2007. Christmas time! Nice date to start a blog. Maybe to work as a talisman? Judging by his feed count (152) i would say things are going great for him!

This blog covers several issues like SEO, social bookmarking, blogging tips and has some interesting posts in the case studies category, like Digitalpoint forums - A money maker for webmasters

The blog is well organized and has interesting posts, easy to read, which is very important, up to date and regular posts.

As you can see for yourself this is an active blog, not because of what i have mention in the previous paragraph, but because of the number of comments in each post, although this is a nofollow blog (Which i don«’t consider a negative aspect).

Recently, Chetan changed to blog template, that im not very fond of… It is better than the previous one, but to gray for my taste. There are better options around.

Other thing i would change is the banner at the top of the blog, probably an ad would be a better idea. Also, the in text ads color from Kontera make the readability poor in some places. Dark blue with a dark gray background don’t match.
