James Williams of Jones & Jones Law recalled the aftermath of hurricane Katrina “like it was yesterday.” The ensuing caseload from the storm was extremely heavy on the Jones & Jones law firm. “We made a conscious decision at Jones & Jones Law not to file any sort of class action, but rather take it case-by-case through the court system.” said James Williams. According to the Jones & Jones partner it made “more work for us yet guaranteed our clients a better settlement.” According to James Williams of Jones & Jones Law, all but one case was settled out of court. The only case that went to jury trial the jury returned and, according to the Jones & Jones lawyer “awarded our client well over what we were asking in damages.”
