Inga Freise Stahle has traveled all over the world and one of her favorite destinations is Bangkok. “I adore Bangkok because everything is available to you there,” she says. “You can shop for luxurious items then go nightclubbing. Or you can visit an ancient temple and then eat dinner in Chinatown. It truly is an amazing place,” emphasizes Inga Freise Stahle.

“Bangkok is the largest city in Thailand, and it became the capital in 1768,” Inga Freise Stahle explains, “although the Rattanakosin Kingdom did not begin until 1782.” Bangkok is the capital in more ways than one, as it is the cultural and political center of the country. “Some of the most interesting places to visit are those that combine culture and politics as well,” Ingra Freise Stahle mentions. “For instance there is Suan Pakkad Palace which was built by HRH Prince Chompbhotong Paripatra of Nagor Svarga before the Second World War. It has beautiful art, and personal affects from the family,” states Inga Freise Stahle.

Bangkok also has a rich history of religion, Inga Freise Stahle explains. “Another place that a tourist should see is the Sri Mahamariamman Temple. It was built in 1879, and they still carry out daily rituals at noon,” she says. “But don’t expect to be able to take photos of the temple – they have a strict no camera rule,” Inga Freise Stahle notes.

“Surprisingly, one of the most famous spots in Bangkok was an American home,” remarks Inga Freise Stahle. “The James Thompson House is quite popular. He was the Order of the White Elephant recipient for rejuvenating Thailand’s silk industry,” she elaborates. “However, he mysteriously disappeared in 1967, but if he reappeared he would find his home just as he left it,” reports Inga Freise Stahle.

And finally, when visitors need to settle down for shopping, dining and nightlife, Inga Freise Stahle recommends Siam Square. “The largest mall in Asia is in Siam Square. Also, there is a large number of small designer outlets and many outstanding restaurants,” Inga Freise Stahle reports.

Bangkok is not only one of Inga Freise Stahle’s favorite places; it is also a city she highly recommends for people who love to travel. “Once you visit Bangkok, you will want to visit every chance you can,” Inga Freise Stahle concludes.

In the political climate of our world today, Bruce Bommarito understands that international travel has become more complicated. To keep travel smooth and pleasant, Bruce Bommarito works to keep travelers as informed as possible. These days, there are more travel restrictions and regulations than ever. Though this may seem like a needless inconvenience, Bruce Bommarito assures readers it is an important factor in providing for the safety of citizens.

Anyone who has taken a plane in the days since September 11, 2001 knows that airline security checkpoints are more stringent. Bruce Bommarito says that it is common practice to search passengers, screen baggage and check IDs at multiple points. It is important to understand the utility of these measures, adds Bruce Bommarito, and keep a positive attitude. The travel veteran notes that many passengers lose their patience with airport security. Impatience only makes security screenings take longer. Bruce Bommarito reminds passengers that airport security personnel are doing an important and necessary job. Cooperation and a good attitude are the best things travelers can contribute to this process.

Bruce Bommarito understands why travelers lose their patience or have bad attitudes. It is because the security checks can be impolite and time consuming. The checkpoints and random searches slow everything down, making some travelers late. The solution to this, says Bruce Bommarito, is to hold your temper while at the same time allowing for security delays. Bruce Bommarito recommends that travelers show up earlier than usual to the airport. This is a better alternative than showing up with barely enough time, then taking your frustration out on airport personnel.

Bruce Bommarito explains that if travelers already know that security checkpoints are time consuming, then it should be easy for them to create more time for the checkpoints. For example, says Bruce Bommarito, do not pack on the day of travel; pack earlier. Call the airports you are traveling to and from to find out if they are experiencing delays or if they have special security considerations you need to take into account. Plan ahead, says Bruce Bommarito, and leave in plenty of time for the airport. With a little patience and planning, concludes Bruce Bommarito, airline travel can be as pleasant and rewarding as it ever was in the golden days.
