Creating Mini sites

Posted by admin On July - 24 - 2007

Today im gonna talk about how to create mini sites. (and im assuming that you already know what a mini site is)

You have several ways to build a mini site.

One of them is to create a site from an html template or creating one from scratch, or you can create a blog for the purpose.

And another one is to install a CMS script (content management script). There’s hundreds of cms free of charge to download, but not all are the best options. I’ve tried cms like e107, xoops, joomla, phpwebsite and so on, but none were created intentionaly to serve as mini sites easily. well, i found the CommonSense CMS script that is free to download and can help you creating mini sites.

The script uses a mysql database and has the basic features a cms should have like the possibility to create your own pages, but that’s not what interests us. With this CMS you can add articles in an easy way, you can add RSS feed to keep fresh content coming into you site, and above all you can enter your Google adsense/YPN/Clickbank details in a quick way or add html code from other feeds like bidvertise or speedyclicks, making the creation of the mini site easy and in a short time.

The script also has several templates to choose from and you can edit the templates colors with just few clicks on the administration panel!

The negative aspects of the Commonsense CMS is that some features to be used require a paid subscription like the auto updates feature, and it’s not entirely SEO friendly.

You can see a working mini site with this script in http://debtconsolidationadvice.dahh.net/
