Feng-gui.com: What are people looking at?

I have found this site (don’t remember where sorry!) 2 days ago, and i have found it very interesting.

What this site does is simulate the human vision.

Confused? Don’t be. It’s actually very simple.

They have a program that analyses an image sent by you, or a website. After the analysing is complete, it will show a heat map that tries to simulate how the human eye will look at your image or website!

Here is the heat map for this blog:
Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Has you can see, the spots where the human eye is supposed to look at are surround with a yellow circle with a number in it. The numbers may represent the order the human uses to cycle through the site. I’m not sure of this because i failed to find info about this on their website.

This tool can be a great addition when you create a website, or plan to optimize it a bit. You can see where are people looking at, and make the necessary changes.

As you can see on my heatmap. Blog.dahh.net users pay attention to our 125×125 ad buttons, and to the feature article image. First, i draw attention to an important part of the site (the ads), making a good investment to all of you, potential advertisers on this site. You may not get the thousand clicks you want :p, but your brand will surely be noticed. So, grab a piece of the attention by buying an 125×125 ad here ;).

And second, but also very important, my site draws attention to the featured article, increasing greatly it’s exposure ( want to guest post here?).

In conclusion, this is a great tool for you to use, or just to for curiosity purposes. The algorithm off course is not 100% accurate. Simulating a human behaviour is very difficult, but possible.

To finalise, i want to wish all my readers a great easter (if you celebrate it) or just a fantastic weekend to you all. :)
