Microsoft sends a cake to mozilla team

This is a news that i found very amusing.

Mozilla launched yesterday the firefox version 3. They planned to beat the world record on downloads made in 24hours. They called it the D Day (Download day).

They have registered more than 8 million downloads in 24h! The Guinness records team is reviewing the data and will announce the decision in a few days. I’m sure the verdict will be favourable :-)

Regarding the release of firefox 3, the Internet Explorer team decided to congratulate the Mozilla team with a cake.

This shows tremendous fair play from the IE team, and the cake amused all Mozilla staff. Great sense of Humour! hehe

It seems that the IE team did the same gesture when firefox 2 was release, and they wanted to make it a tradition.

You can read the post from Al Billings, a QA Engineer at the Mozilla corporation and he was there when Sean from Microsoft came to deliver the cake.

As for the software, my first impressions are good. So far my browsing is smooth, firefox doesn’t lag my pc, although it is still a RAM eater! The graphic aspect is a bit different but for the better. The only problem i have found so far are the plugins compatibility. Some that i use aren’t firefox 3 compatible…

Now even if Firefox 3 is released it is not wise to download and use it. Why? You know the plug ins compatibility(I know you pointed it out already). The only reason I use Firefox is due to vast number of useful plug ins. IE is faster than Firefox(when opening a site first time), use less ram and with some plug ins give better download speed(I will not tell about the plug in here).

By the way A cake by IE team, may be a lie.

This is the greatest joke I ever seen. The design of the cake makes me wanna throw up, I dunno why, since I don’t use IE at all.

The cake was a nice way for IE to steal some of Firefox’s publicity!
