The adventure of making money online!

MMO Blogs should embrace Bologna Spirit

2 days ago, i was thinking that MMO (make money online) blogs failed to show readers the practical side of Making money online. It was all “talk talk talk”, all theory, and no practical stuff, there is nothing concrete like ” i applied this strategy using these steps and i made xxx amount of bucks!”.

Now, yesterday, Custodio, a fellow portuguese blogger that makes a living online, created a post that supports what i was thinking.

Theory

Theory

He says that MMO blogs don’t show effectively  how to make money. T

he majority of the posts are theoretical, and don’t show you practical results. He even says that a probable answer for all these theoretical posts, is because these bloggers don’t really make any decent money to show…

I couldn’t agree more with him.

Talking theoretically on ways to make money is easy, even for bloggers who don’t know nothing about this niche. You just need to read blogs from this area, recycle their articles and give them your personal touch and giving no credit to the original author.

Shocked? It is a common practice…

A popular Portuguese saying

- “Those who know… Do… Those who don’t know…. Teach” -

And this saying fits like a glove to many MMO bloggers. Those who know, put their knowledge into practice and make a decent buck, while those who don’t know, will tell you how to “theoretically” make money online…

Off course, some of you, actually make a decent amount of money online, and like to create posts on theoretical ways to make money, because you simple don’t want to show how you really make money. After all… You don’t want a new competitor right?

In my opinion, MMO blogs should embrace the Bologna spirit.

The Bologna Process

For those who don’t know what Bologna process is, a quick read on wikipedia will explain you:

“The purpose of the Bologna process (or Bologna accords) is to create the European higher education areaacademic degree standards and quality assurance standards more comparable and compatible throughout Europe. It is named after the place it was proposed, the University of Bologna, with the signing in 1999 of the Bologna declaration by Ministers of Education from 29 European countries in the Italian city of Bologna

Bolgna process

A fundamental objective of Bologna process is to make the student, learn from himself by putting in practice what he has learned.

So when i say MMO blogs should embrace the Bologna Spirit is because i think bloggers need to loose a bit the Theoretical posts, and put into practice the theories they learned, showing almost a step-by-step post. Showing their readers what have they done exactly to make xxx dollars from affiliate marketing, what have they done to make a site a success, or what secrets do you have  and how do you put them into work.

Final Consideration

Im not saying MMO bloggers should reveal all they know or reveal their niches. That wouldn’t be a wise decision.  As Custodio say’s, a blogger should show 95% of the process, the other %5 depends on the reader.

Readers want something concrete. Something they can put into practice right away- Practical Examples!

And by the way… Don’t be afraid to show your failures. We all learn from mistakes…

Great article with some good points. I honestly think, that for people that are just starting to make money online and want to blog about it, they should focus on a “step by step” type blog of how they are doing it. I think that is something most people can relate to.

The trouble with people who read MMO blogs is related to the way posts are displayed on the net in reverse order. I have one such a blog and I notice that the majority of visitors fail to search beyond the landing page and therefore they fail to learn what the blogger has to offer.

It seems that everybody wants the answers handed to them on a silver plate which is why so many are sucked into get rich money schemes. If they can’t take the time to examine a blog properly then I predict that any future blogs they may develop will fail, especially if they put as much effort into developing the blog as they did in researching it.

You got a point. many won’t bother to look for information. They want the good stuff handed over. I remember Jason from TUK saying that he is tired of questions like “How do you make money?”, and the only possible answer he can give is “Read my blog”

but wouldn’t be nice to see from time to time after a series of theoretical posts, one that would show what the blogger did and what results he had applying the techniques he teachs?

There is an old saying that comes to mind, “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink”

Mmm, I think that you can apply that to some bloggers as well.

Sad to say that most successful webmasters only wanna share their white hat tips on how to make money online. But I wouldn’t blame them on that cos I know the hardship they went through to experiment all these. Their theory are mostly the hardest way to get a job done yet they are most reliable in a way or another.

We can’t blame them, but there are ways to show how they do without compromise the secrets… it is like a recipe. You can “forget” to tell what the secret ingredient is, but still, you give what it is necessary to do a nice meal

How true! Any discerning blogger would like to see the actual results than just simply ways of making money. I think that’s what separates the real MMO blogs with the “norms”

Great post Hugo. It’s really annoying to see a lot of MMO blogs and all they say is “Do this, do that and you will make money [but it's not guaranteed]!” I mean, that’s inconvenient on the readers’ part as well because they’re being told to do something which has not yet proven to work.

“DO this and do that and you will make money” we see this all around.

It is like telling you to do 5 miles every week, 100 push ups and abs every day and you will be in great shape…. but who teachs how to warmup and do the exercises correctly?

Wow… where do i get these comparisons? lol
