Well, i don’t think that no blogger has a rival in the real sense of the word, but let’s say in a positive way. You wonder how many sites a certain blogger has…

Well, if you want to have a 100% correct answer, then you can give up right now, because there is no way you can get a 100% certain… If you ask a blogger then it is most probable that he/she cant’ answer you with a right number.

But, there is a way, where you can have a number, that is no where near the right number.

You can use Google analytics to get a number. Let me show you how.

Visit a site that may interest you, and if that site is being monitored by google analytics, then just see the page source code (press F11 if you are using mozilla).

Let’s use my example:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

This code is from one of my mini sites, and if you click the image, you can see a red square around a number: the number 8.

This 8 means, when i created a new profile on google analytics, the associated code generated was the 8th code generated. So at that time, i had 7 other codes to use on 7 different sites.

This way, you can have a slight idea of the number of sites someone has. I say slight, because the webmaster may have created another websites, for example, if you check my G analytics code you will see that i have a 2 for this blog. My number 4 code may not be being used at this time, or i can have other sites being monitored by other service or as it happens on several of my minor sites, i only monitor them trough my cpanel stats.

This is intended just for curiosity purposes and nothing more :)

oh, and btw, there is a lot to learn checking the source code from other bloggers ;)

Smorty is one of the best paid reviews site around, and i have been using it (not much) for a while. But i already have some thoughts that i would like to share with you.

I think Smorty penalises too much, bloggers that for some reason don’t write the review in time, or make some kind of mistake inputting the post address. This happened to me.

In this last couple of months i have been full of work, and i had time for nothing. In one of these days i decided to reserve an opportunity because i had some spare time.  But, the time i had to write the review was needed to someting else, more important, and the next days were also crazy. So the time (3 days) i had to write the review passed, and when i logged in i had a penalization of 250 points from my overall score!

2 days ago, i wrote a review, i wrote the blog domain without the www, which game a message error telling me that this was not my blog address.

Solution? i wrote the blog address with the www.

Consequence of this mistake?

My score went down by 83 points!!!

I sincerely advise Smorty  to consider these kind  of penalizations.  I agree with them, because there’s the need to differentiate bloggers, but with reasonable deduction of points…

Just my 2 cents.

Finally, Alexa decided to finish with redirections.

Some bloggers speculated that by making every link from their blog to be redirect through alexa site would help lower the alexa rank. There was no proof that this really worked, but many bloggers insisted in using it.

But, in the past days, alexa made every redirect to give a 404 error code.

I tottaly agree with this. I dindn’t like when i visited a blog and noticed that it was using the alexa redirect. Put your self on the eyes of a potential advertiser. You visit a blog, and see that it as a good alexa rank, but then you find it is using the famous redirect! What would you think? How fake is the rank?

Now the only way tha ti know to help decrease the alexa rank is using alexa toolbars: SearchStatus or Sparky

The $100 Contest

CKmarketing is running a $100 contest. But he is not alone. He has joined forces with other blogs to bring you this contest. So what do you have to do?

To gain entries into the contest, just do any of the following:

  • Subscribe to RSS via email = 2 entries (per blog you subscribe to!).
  • Make a comment of value (not just “i agree”, etc.) on a post = 1 entry (remember to comment on all blogs).
  • Write a post about the contest on your blog (must include a link to this page and the links below to participating blogs) = 25 entries.

How much easier can we make it? You can sneak in with just one entry by simply posting a comment here, you can increase your odds by reading and commenting on a few more posts here and at one of the blogs below and maybe subscribe to a couple, or you can really up the odds and subscribe to all all of our blogs (which you’ll enjoy reading anyway), comment on a bunch of posts, and blog about this contest. The more entries you earn, the better your odds, of course. If you’re going to post about this contest, just grab the image and code from here.

The deadline for this contest is 12:00 AM February 1, 2008.

Who wants to pay you?

Remember, the more you post (quality posts) on the participating blogs, more chances you will have to win.

Lately, the advertising opportunities available to me on Smorty, require that the blog does not have any Ad or review from payperpost.

As you may know google was on a penalizing spree to bloggers that used services such as text link ads or payperpost. This made a market change.

Text link ads is trying to hide as much as it can from google bot, and payperpost created Real Rank. PayperPost still require a disclosure of some sort, such a badge or a small text selling this post was sponsored by… Smorty advertisers want to keep their google ranks in good grace and don’t want nothing to do with payperpost.

I personally will stick with PayperPost because it is still my favourite Sponsored Reviews Site.
