The adventure of making money online!

Is it the end of the week?

Posted by admin On June - 30 - 2008

Bahh, it is only the beggining of the week but i feel like it was the end of it… im tired, im sleepy…. how could a day of work let me like this??? damn it…

It is accumulating… i need vacation. I need to dedicate myself to blogging to stress out (yes, blogging keeps the stress away :)), to do projects that are left behind… if all goes well i will manage to do this in a couple of weeks….

Anyway, remember my post regarding Ian, that was selling is life? Well, it turns out that the selling value didn’t reach the values i expected but still, a decent amount was made - AU 399,300 USD. Some of the biggest bids were cancelled. You don’t imagine the amount of bids that were cancelled saying that made a mistake bidding… lol

Now, the auction has ended, and Ian walked out of his ex-house with only his wallet, the next step is ready to be made…. Guess what is it?

Have you checked it out? Crazy right? Total freedom. Hehe…

Good luck Ian!

Ok, it is the end of the month (it seems that time fly’s) and as usual i will show you the list of the top commentators. They benefit from some link juice from commenting and a link in all pages for being the top commentators, besides a mention in a post!

So ere are the top commentators for June:

Keep commenting ;)

Btw, this is a dofollow blog, some months ago i said i was considering taking out the dofollow from comments, and only let the top commentators as dofollow. And i have been thinking about it regularly, and it seems that bloggers are changing towards nofollow blogs

Again, im considering it, but considering it slowly…. :p

I have been loosing money this past weeks.

Posted by admin On May - 7 - 2008

This is the time of the year where me and fellow bloggers don’t have time for almost nothing. College exams take a great deal of time from our life’s.

For me, the exams period was over a couple of weeks ago, followed by a week of intense partying ;), but it is time for my 5 weeks internship on Neuro Surgery. This takes me at least 8 hours a day + hours to do works and research. Plus, i will be doing night shifts that will mess up my internal clock. lol
i will have some tough weeks… and time is money….

But with all this, some things are left behind, such as, posts that i wanted to write, but when i have time to write them there is no point on posting about them, they are no longer “new fruit”. Or jobs that are left behind, can potentially imply me loosing money. Not directly, but indirectly. In practical aspects It is money not earned, but in my point of view is like loosing money.

One of these jobs, is updating my not even near of being finished BANS stores. As you may already know, Ebay left Cj.com and decided to create their own program and gave a deadline for publishers to migrate (now extended until May, 31st).

But this is not the big problem. Remember my recent trouble with my hosting? well, the BANS stores databases were screwed, and after uploading the backup they were not working. So, who visits the stores will only find error messages… this is bad.

So, im sure you all have ways to face with these time issues, and probably you manage your time better than me. But what i have decided to do is establish objectives and prioritize, on a per day basis regarding blogging and marketing. For today i have planned to write this post + 1. Correct my BANS stores. And i have reserved 2 hours for this. That’s more than enough for what needs to be done.

What about you? how do you manage your time in these stressful times??

Bloggers stealing Bloggers

Posted by admin On April - 11 - 2008

This is a post that i was planning to do for some time now, but only today, i was able to arrange some time to think about and write it.

The title says it all. Bloggers steal from each other. Probably it s not the best title i could give to this post but i wanted to catch your attention. Probably a title like ” Giving credit is a beautiful thing to do” would be better. :p

What do they steal? They steal ideas, posts from each other.

Let’s see if i can explain this well.

I have been blogging for about a year now, and during this period of time i have read many blogs, and found many things that shocked me.

What “pisses me off” is the bloggers tendency to write about the same stuff at the same time. This is some what, normal when a new site launches and everybody wants take the opportunity while it is still hot. But what it should not be normal is when a blogger comes out with an interesting and original article, and others “copy” the article and don’t give credit for blogger “joe” for being the author, but are smart enough to change completely the phrases to mask the Plagiarism (i think this is the correct word), and after this genius brainstorming of changing the phrases, they manage to come with one or two phrases that were actually made by them. I can give you an example like a post called “10 tips for successful blogging“, that is copied, changed and then comes out like “11 tips for successful blogging“! wow!

Some bloggers take this into another level and wait weeks, even months before publishing copied post or, they post in a blog where they know that their audience does not read the blogs where they take the blog ideas. But for a blogger that reads some decent amount of blogs, will say: “wait a minute! i have read this before, where was it?”, or simply will say, like i said a lot of times: “ah come on! not another post about…..!”

So, who does copy, change and publish a post like it was their own creation?

Small bloggers? Sure. A considerable % of small bloggers (please don’t understand small as a diminishing word) will use this method to create posts, and due to their lack of experience (i hope) they forget to give credit.

And what about Big Bloggers? Surprisingly or not, i have found some of the considered big bloggers doing this (or worse), and getting away with it. And this is more serious than the small bloggers, because the big bloggers, will be the ones recognized by publishing the unoriginal post. Worse, they will be recognised for being the original authors of the post, and they will be the ones getting all the comments, all the trackbacks and all the exposure from blogs that correctly have the habit from mentioning the blog from where they got the post or idea for the post. This is unfair to who tries to come out with an original post (specially in this phase of blogging where all seems recycled content :( ).

The main problem is not directly related on posting content from other blogs, as long they don’t duplicate the content. The problem is not giving credit to the true post author.

If you were to do an academic work, you would fail if you don’t discriminate your sources to accomplish the work.

We all make mistakes, an im no angel here, i remember that i wrote a few posts and i didn’t gave credit to the blog where i took ideas from, some i couldn’t remember from where it was, but that is no excuse.

So, in the next time, you are getting inspiration from another blog please give credit. Who knows if you don’t win a new reader?

Sharing information, improving a post from another blogger is healthy. That’s how things evolve, but just remember to give credit. ;)

Contest craziness!?

Posted by admin On March - 20 - 2008

Well, i was giving away 3000 entrecard credits, but for some reason, i only got one application! The deadline has passed, i even extended the the deadline but no more applications were made. I blame my self. I haven’t advertised the contest like i should, but, there is another thing. The prize. Maybe 3000 Entrecard credits don’t make a good prize to give. I agree with this. Maybe if i put a cash prize i would have the success has the first contest i ran here.

So, the contest is officially cancelled! i thank Louis for his application, but im sad to say that the contest is over. well, at least you get a link to your site :)

But, anyway back to “blaming spree” lol, i also blame those crazy contests! Those super contests, that grab a lot of sponsors and gather a total prize of $1000 , $2000 or even $12000!!!! They ruin the competition!!! or not!! :p

Some links from my top referring sites

I decided to check google analytics stats for this blog and decided that it was time to give credit to some blogs that are driving traffic to my.

So here are some interesting articles from the blogs that kindly are bringing traffic to my blog :):

Vikinblogger recently joined Payperpost and he is having some mixed thoughts about PPP, see for your self what he has to tell.

is giving me some good traffic, but unfortunately i can’t read what they have to say because it is in a language i can’t read, Norwegian :|

bloggeries.com gathers a community of bloggers from all over the world. This forum may help you a lot in your blogging life.

JohnChow.com yeah, johnchow blog is sending me some traffic too. Jonh Chow is back with another post with food pictures… Some of you like and thin this is fun, others are tired of this kind of posts. You be the judge.. :p

dinheirooportunidade.comin this case i would recommend the english version of this blog from a Portuguese guru. :) Custodio in his english blog tells you how to have Cheap, quality traffic, and stolen from your competitors

And this is it. The are blogs that are sending me more traffic. For all of them my thanks, and keep them coming! :D
