According to Paul Perito MD a urinary tract infection may involve the urethra, bladder, ureters and kidneys and generally affects men of advanced age.

There are two basic types of urinary tract infection–lower tract and upper tract. Lower tract infections, says Paul Perito MD, include infection of the urethra and bladder. Usually these types of infections are caused by intestinal bacterium which enters through the urethra. Paul Perito MD also notes that certain microorganisms, such as chlamydia and gonorrhea, may be spread through sexual contact. Unique to men is prostatitis, which is the sudden swelling of the prostate gland. Infections involving the ureters and the kidneys are called upper tract infections, explains Paul Perito MD.

Dr. Paul E. Perito: The causes are manifold and truly anything that causes oxidative stress to the vessels of the penis. That would mean anything that is an inflammatory agent to the vessels of the penis can cause erectile dysfunction. This would include things like diabetes. Probably 10% of the patients I see have diabetes. Smokers… At least in Miami about 30% of my patients are smokers. They come in with severe erectile dysfunction. Hypertension…

Marla Ahlgrimm has come a long way from the early days—battling to educate the country about premenstrual syndrome while co-founding Madison Pharmacy Associates. Starting in a 700 square foot pharmacy space, Madison Pharmacy Associates immediately attracted national attention, with Ahlgrimm and her colleague  fielding calls seven days a week.

After that first year, Ahlgrimm was able to hire a third pharmacist, as well as a bookkeeper. Emergency Room Final Considerations

Wel, my internship at the emergency room finished a week ago. I have taken the opportunity to rest these days. But the time to rest was scarce because i had some work to do for my final college essay. Tomorrow i will start a new internship. This time in a community health centre.

The two months i have spent at the ER passed really fast, those were two hard months… really hard… I did mostly the afternoon shifts. There were advantages and disavantages…. One of the disavantages was the amount of people that go to the ER in the afternoon period. There were chaotic times, and the amount of work accumulates at a crazy speed. Specially when doctors decide to do their job and really work…. lol

Well, i as a future nurse have the duty to do health educative sessions and take the opportunity to elucidade the population about certain isues. Today, i found a web site that talks about Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

This site gives you a simple and valuable information about this subject. There are 2 videos available: sudden cardiac arrest video and the human heart.

Sudden Cardiac arrest is very common unfortunately, and all population in general should be aware of risk factors, know to recognize a cardiac arrest and what mesures to take.
