Sell ads on your blog with OIOpublisher

Posted by admin On March - 14 - 2008

Last week, during my scarce free time i decided to search for a wordpress plugin that could manage my ad sales on this blog in an almost automated way. I found a couple of them but none gave me exactly what i wanted.

So, i decided to invest some money to buy a tool for the first time to use on this blog. I decided to buy OIOpublisher. I knew this wordpress plugin for some time now and read good reviews about it. So it seemed the right choice for me.

The plugin is somewhat cheap, it costs only a one time fee of $37 dollars, and you can use it on an unlimited number of blogs, the buying process is extremely fast. But to talk you into buying this wordpress plugin i need you to show you exactly what oiopublisher is.

Oiopublisher lets you cut the middleman in your ad sales. The plugin is a direct ad sale platform that can manage a the majority of advertising deals you want to use.

WIth OIOpublisher you can sell in a easy way:

- Banner ads (Like the 125×125 button im using on the right side);

- Text Links (home page, site wide, single post links);

- Inline ads (video, image);

- Reviews (written by you or by the buyer);

- or you can customise your ad deal;

The plugin even comes with a referral system that allows you to reward your members that refer advertisers to your blog! pretty cool huh?

As you can see, by managing ads itself, oiopublisher will take down the headache of managing who bought ads from you, or if they have paid you or not. For the days i have used this script, i could see that was a good investment, it is a time saver. But it is not only that. You can now have more advertising options, that before you wouldn’t have the patience or the right script to do them.

The plugin installation couldn’t be easier. Just download (after you paid the $37 fee), unzip and upload to your wordpress plugin directory and activate it at the plugin panel in your administration area. Then you just need to go to the business tab and configure your ad spots. After that, go to your widget configuration and choose where the ads are displayed.

It is as simple as 1-2-3. If you buy this script you won’t regret. This is by far one of the best plugins i have found for wordpress. It is cheap, and you even get 50% for every new costumer you sent to oiopublisher.

Bologna process and Alexa Ranking

Posted by admin On March - 8 - 2008

Today’s post is a double post. First of all, i would like to say that my life is chaotic right now.

I have already told you that im on the final year of college. Recently, my college entered the Bologna Process. For those who don’t know what it is you can read about it on wikipedia.

This semester, i have a tight schedule. 8 weeks of intensive classes, mostly from 8am to 8pm. And off course, since it’s the bologna era, my teachers give us essays to elaborate. Right now, im with 7 works to complete, one being a seminar organized by us, and the other a presentation to a congress. And i can’t forget the final graduation essay, it is an investigation work and it will take almost a year to complete.

When i arrive at home i only have time to make dinner, and then i have to start working again, mostly until midnight… :(

I need some rest….

Even with this i will try to write a post per day on the blog. I have posts cumulating on the list i carry with me to take note every time i have an idea for a post :)

Now for the second post. Alexa as updated it’s ranks and guess what? im at number 110,227!!! Just to think a year ago i was over 1million….

Well, it would be great if i could reach the top 100,000… will you help me? ;)

And a final note, the 125×125 ads can now be bought without the need to caontact me. The script will take all the necessary steps. YOu just need to provide with the link for the page and for the image and then pay the $5. Couldn’t be easier.

Have a nice weekend!

Pligg - A digg.com clone

Posted by admin On February - 18 - 2008

Lately i have seen lots of new social bookmarking sites. The reason is that there are several free scripts that allow us, fast, free and easily to create a social bookmarking driven site.

One of those scripts, is Pligg. It is a free CMS (content management system), it is open source and powered by a php/mysql.

This script, besides allowing the webmaster to manage a digg like site, joins the power of CMS.

The script is at version 9.9 beta, meaning that the community is active and constantly releasing new features, mods, templates.

Unfortunately, there are many social bookmark sites around these days. Competition is some what high, but there is still space available… And some money to be made ;)

Goodbye Adtoll! Hello Project Wonderfull!

Posted by admin On January - 29 - 2008

In the end of the last week i decided to drop adtoll. I was not happy with the results and performance of the adtoll code. First, i had no revenue at all these past weeks, and secondly, and a important aspect of my decision was that the adtoll script often “lagged” the page loading. Sometimes more than 3 seconds. Very annoying.

Adtoll as recently upgraded their servers but they are to late for me :p

With my demise from adtoll, there was an opportunity for project wonderful to perform on my blog.

What is ProjectWonderfull?

It is a new service, that we can compare slightly with adtoll, but in my honest opinion, it is way better.

You can buy advertsing (text or image)… oh… correction. You don’t buy advertising. You bid for an ad spot.

For example, lets use this blog. When i installed the code here, i decided to make the minimum bid at 0 cents. Free advertising is always good huh? :) These free spots where almost immediately taken, but for a short time. Because someone outbid them by once cent! ( cheap!) If a new advertiser want to place the ad here right now then it would have to bid more. in this morning the minimum bid was at 7 cents, but now it is only at 2 cents.

Why?

If you bid for one cent for one week for example, but another advertiser bids 2cents for this day, then you will loose the spot for the day, but in the next day, your bid will be the highest again because the 2 cents bids expired.

This is very interesting because it can increase the advertiser competition, and our earnings :)

Till now i am very happy with the results, but sadly for you, my minimum price to advertise will no longer be 0 cents.

Unfortunately, there is no referral system…. :(

Creating mini sites - Part 1 - Software to use

Posted by admin On December - 22 - 2007

Hello! As mentioned yesterday, im going to start a series of “how to create a mini site”. I have covered this subject a few times, and showed you how to create them using some scripts or software like Commonsense CMS, Rssmini 1.3, HyperVRE (which promised to be a great tool but in fact sucked).

I have 2 new tools to try out. But for now let’s stick with one. I really hope this new tool is way better than the previous ones. This tool takes in consideration that it helps you creating a mini site easy and fast, but it does not help you create the content. It’s up to you to create the content. Don’t fall in temptation to copy other site content and don’t use rss feed to fill you pages. Use your own created content, your own words.

So, what tool am i talking about?

19pages. Have you ever heard of it? It’s a software created by the guys at 45n5 that will help you deploy a mini site real easy, real fast!

So 19 pages? yeah, the software is limited to 20 pages and 19 articles. It’s a mini site…. it is not supposed to have many pages! :p

Here is a quick presentation of the software:

19 pages
So what’s good about it?

  1. It’s easy to install. Just upload to your host, edit the config.php file and there is no need for a database.
  2. It’s easy to use. You have only what you need for. A place to write your articles and a place to add tags.
  3. SEO friendly

All right now that we have a software to use, the next step is finding the niche mini site we want to use. And for that we need to do some keyword researching.

That, my friends, i’ll leave it for Creating mini sites - Part 2. Stay tuned ;)
