About 2 months ago, Ahkong made a proposition in where he asked his visitors to subscribe his RSS feed by email, and in exchange he would do the same. He had a great feedback and managed to get a good increase in his rss subscribers count.

So i will try this method here.

So here is how we are going to do:

1. Subscribe to my RSS feed by email;
2. Place a comment here about your subscription;
3. Remember to place your email used to subscribe, so that i can confirm it;

All kinds of business are made on the internet, and due to the value of RSS subscribers, it is no surprise that i see business like rssxplosion appear on the web.

Current RSS subscribers market price is arount $27 to $35 they say.
Rssxplosion promises to deliver you the amount of subscribers you pay for a promotional price of $1 each only… And delivered weekly or monthly.

Well, i was giving away 3000 entrecard credits, but for some reason, i only got one application! The deadline has passed, i even extended the the deadline but no more applications were made. I blame my self. I haven’t advertised the contest like i should, but, there is another thing. The prize. Maybe 3000 Entrecard credits don’t make a good prize to give. I agree with this. Maybe if i put a cash prize i would have the success has the first contest i ran here.

A few weeks ago i found an interesting post about “Anti marketing design“.

Anti marketing design are sites that use ugly designs, but manage to be very successful.

The example used was Plentyoffish.com, a site that makes more than $10000 each day with google adsense. According to the founder, Markus Frind , one of the main reasons of this success is exactly the ugly site design.

He evens gives examples of other ugly sites that are very successful such as myspace, craiglist, google.

Markus Frind says that sites with an ugly design tend to generate more revenue, build better brands, and are more fun to participate.

CKmarketing is running a $100 contest. But he is not alone. He has joined forces with other blogs to bring you this contest. So what do you have to do?

To gain entries into the contest, just do any of the following:

• Subscribe to RSS via email = 2 entries (per blog you subscribe to!).
• Make a comment of value (not just “i agree”, etc.) on a post = 1 entry (remember to comment on all blogs).
• Write a post about the contest on your blog (must include a link to this page and the links below to participating blogs) = 25 entries.

The main objective was to bring more traffic, and i think it was achieved. Look at the Alexa graph:

The contest began 29th november, and since then the traffic has increased, having the total traffic more than doubled in certains days.

1 – All in one SEO and Headspace 2 : these two plug ins allow you to turn your blog a little bit more friendly. Both help you creating tags for your post so that you can have your post easily spidered by search engines. Google indexes my post in a matter of an hour!
