Posted by admin On January - 22 - 2008

After every post you make on your blog, wordpress will ping some online services telling them that you have made a new post (like ping o matic). So, users from these services will know that you updated your blog, and bringing you possible visitors

Thanks to Steve for telling me about:

http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2

and thanks to Poker Guide for warning me about the duplicates

I have been using them for some time now, and haven’t got any problem. You can use all of them or choose your favourites.

There will be more ping services around at the distance of a simple google search :)

Happy pinging!

Wow, great list! I didn’t know about all of these. There’s one you may have missed though:

    http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2

Thats for the Google Blog Search. It can’t hurt to ping Google, although they’ll find you eventually anyway!

Steve’s last blog post..Finding The Best Bank

    • Lossehelin says:

thanks! this one has to be pinged. lol how could i miss the google ping service?lol

i have added it to the list

  2. Squeaky says:

Will using a list of these ping services over the WordPress default get you more traffic?

Squeaky’s last blog post..Nightmare on Elm Street for Google?

    • Lossehelin says:

not directly. the ping services will help you get your post indexed more rapidly, making then your post available through search engines

  3. Poker Guide says:

Does wordpress automatically set up the ping services ? Or do i have to set up a Cron job or somthing ? I cant find any info anywhere…

    regards
    gaz

    • Lossehelin says:

wordpress has it’s own cron job. but in the case of ping services it isn’t needed. when you post a new topic wordpress automatically pings all the services on your list.

  4. Poker Guide says:
