Worpress Plugin: Commentluv
Yesterday i mentioned how you could increase your link building, and did a short reference to commentluv.
So, i decided to install this plugin and see what effect will have on comments, since this aspect has been a little low lately at the blog.
Wha is Commentluv?
Commentluv is a free wordpress plugin that will fetch the lastest topic post from your blog, after you write a comment on this blog for example.

I’ve been following Andy’s blog (fiddyp) for months now. He developed this plugin, and tested it out on his blog first … now it seems like everyone one is using it … which is a good thing. It’s a great plugin. I can’t tell you how often I end up clicking through and finding interesting new blogs, based the links in comments, not only on my own site, but others that are using commentluv.

i really like this plugin. ALmost every time i see it installed on a blog i tend to follow the links given by commentluv just like you do. Really a great plugin
This plugin has been hit & miss for me on my sites. I’ve seen an increase in comments but also an increase in spam comments.
So I guess it depends on whether you want good inciteful comments or just people commenting for the sake of a link.

well, actually, in my case, i have seen a decrease in spam comments. If before i receiveid 20 spam messages /week now it hardly reachs 10…
I’ve only just installed this plugin myself and hopefully it will turn out to be a real comment spinner…;)

Comment Luv only works for Wordpress plugins, so it’s not the definitive answer for bloggers. Also, it does lead to a sharp rise in spammy “Great Post. Cool!” type of messages which makes my blood boil.
Well i agree with you, but in my case those spammy posts are no hassle for me. Akismet catches them all
I’m new to blogging, but CommentLuv seems like an excellent idea to me. It both encourages commenters (spammers can still be moderated) rewards them with an extra back link.

Commentluv is a great plugin because it encourages people to comment on your blog when they get two links back to their site instead of one.

Just one point to note about Commentluv is that it does not give a ‘dofollow’ link by default. The blog owner may still need to activate a dofollow plugin (if they wish) or there is a switch in the plugin code to dofollow or nofollow.

By default, LinkLove leaves the nofollow set until a comment author reaches 10 posts. That could be a good choice for some folks. There are instructions for how to change the number of posts to something other than 10, if a different number is desired.
